does reuptakeing a neurotransmitter mean encouraging its natural synthisis, rather than an agonist which mimics them? allways wondered the difference, thanks doctor, keep em comin

  • mondiablue says:

    Wow thanks!!!

  • CreedChrist says:

so what would you recommend for someone who is depressed and already been on SSRI and SNRI meds which pooped out on them? Are MAOI’s that last thing?

  • dave00075ie says:

Do all antidepressants cause weight gain or loss, because anytime i was on them i lost weight because i just didn’t feel like eating even if the nicest food ever! i’d have no interest in, while on them. plus prozac dont help with panic tryed it and can’t sleep either.

    thanks for the vid.

  • DOCTOROFMINDMD says:

  • DOCTOROFMINDMD says:

  • StarWF2 says:

Doc, here is a question I have always meant to ask one of my own physicians:
If you yourself were bothered by “depression” (we will say that you have suicidal thoughts but can still function in day to day life), would you take an antidepressant? The question interests me because I am a “high functioning” type of patient, and well up on all of the problems these drugs can bring to the table.

As a prescribing physician, do you have a different attitude toward taking these meds?

  • deemilieu says:

dr, there’s an antidepressant drug available outside the usa, tineptine…trade names stablon, tatinol, it’s an SSRE. do you have any information on it, or why it’s not marketed in the usa? also, valdoxan (trade name) is a new drug that went on sale in europe this year. anything about these new types of drugs? both seem very promising and have fewer side effects than the typical ssri, ssni, etc.

  • newworldodour says:

fantastic, glad you are making long videos now.

  • numshine9 says:

Thanks! I love the list of side effects…made me laugh…I’m only on 10 mg…thank you again!

  • DOCTOROFMINDMD says:

yes they mix ok together.. you may get a little manicy on the lexapro, i hope its only 10 mg and not 20 mg , 20 mg is too strong. especially going into the spring with history of psychosis, but its also good to treat depression.. i would go for it but be careful of acivation, see my vid on lexpro (escitalopram), its safe to mix with invega and neurontin… it can cause sexual dysfunction, nausea, sweating, teeth grinding, insomnia, anxiety, agitation, suicidality, bruising, headaches.otherwise ok

  • numshine9 says:

I told you about my drug mixture before and I went back to my psychiatrist today and he gave me Lexipro along with my Invega and Neurontin…what do you think of this mixture? do you think lexipro and invega do well together? your opinion means alot to me…thanks

  • ExtremeBogom says:

You don’t hear enough about Reboxetine.
I’ve always been interested in that one.

  • DOCTOROFMINDMD says:

    hum interesting

  • DOCTOROFMINDMD says:

yes thats st. johns. wort = hypericum= MAO Inhibitor (see vid), do not mix with prescription psychiatric medications one or the other !

  • HorstRolande says:

Just figure it out; it´s Herba Hypericum and yes it works! Sometimes another medication is needed:-)
    (suicidal risk).
    Most People needs a
high dose from this Drug and should avoid/ be careful too much Sun during the Therapy.

    Jörg

  • HorstRolande says:

Not anymore! 5HTP is not (very) effectiv,
takes a lot of time and is expensive.
I like this medication, because non toxic and also no side effect´s:-) For the herbal medication; I DON´T KNOW the name St. John wort.

    Jörg

  • keithrig says:

I actually read that herbal remedies, such as St. John’s wort, and 5HTP were first line treatments for depression in places like Germany.

  • LimitlessThinker says:

    Good information and thank you.

  • DOCTOROFMINDMD says:

there is a difference but not much 37 vs 42 percent response SSRI vs SNRI but generally good point, your smart

  • keithrig says:

I wouldn’t necessarily agree that SSRIs are weak. In various studies, the efficacy ratings are not proven to be better on patients that take SSRI vs SNRIs
