PostHeaderIcon Can someone tell me if my son is depressed?

signs of clinical depression

Can someone please give me the basic symptoms and signs of clinical depression, My son has been acting out lately and I simply don’t know what to do anymore. I really am not sure, but he has been acting very strange for the past 4 months, and I am a fool to consider doing something about it now, shame on me.

Please help.
Well, he is 28, and he has been acting strange, as in, he lost his job a year ago for getting caught masturbating by the manager. He hasn’t been playing video games. All he does is smoke pot in the basement, it seems like the only person he talks to is our pet dog, he ignores me and my girlfriend, he eats like a pig, he gained recently, around 32 pounds, and is becoming enormous. I know I’m a bad mother but I don’t know what to do, I need help. Please don’t flame me.

PostHeaderIcon What signs must you look for when you suspect that a person is clinically depressed?

signs of clinical depression

I Have never met a person in my life that was diagnosed with clinical depression. All I know is that I am not a very happy person and tend to isolate myself from everybody. I also feel suicidal at times but never really entertained that thought too much cause I love my children and wife dearly. I also tend to project my shortcomings on other people. Sometimes it feel like lots of people enjoy it to see me down and out. Eversince I lost my job 4 years ago (occupied a high ranked position at a financial institution) I lost all self confidence and life became an uphill battle. Cant shake the past. Think that life is unfair. Regards myself as a loving, caring good person and will go all out so that other people can love me. Please help!!!

spiritual depression

if so, why?

it’s just i’ve been having some irational thoughts recently, they’ve been tending to revolve around the idea of god, satan, angels, souls….that side of things.
i personally believe that what ever the problem is, its trying to attack me at a basic level, for everything else to fall into place if it gets the better of me.
i know the problem is psychological, whatever it is.
Psychological in origin i mean.

PostHeaderIcon Do you think I need a shrink?

signs of clinical depression

Okay. I’ll admit I have some issues, but I don’t think I need a psychologist. Lots of people I come into contact with think I need one. My mom wanted to send me to one because I tend to chew my fingers. Other people want me to see one due to the fact that I also tend to stay depressed. They say it could be signs of clinical depression and anxiety. Even others say I should speak with a therapist of some sort due to the fact that I “bottle up my feelings, and that’s not healthy”. I don’t think there’s any point to me going to see one, but when I tell that to the people who say I should they say something about denial. Should I at least consider seeing one, or can I continue ignoring their requests? Thanks.

Yeah, I have been noticing a significant drop in my grades in school, and so have my parents. I feel like I’ve stopped caring, but I know I really haven’t because I want to do better, but I can’t seem to pull out of my depression.

PostHeaderIcon Are there any home remedies/tips for depression?

depression remedies

I was diagnosed with clinical depression but I do not want to take the pills prescribed to me. Is there anything else I can do instead that will stop the depression from affecting me so strongly?

Serious answers only, pretty please.

PostHeaderIcon Is there a type of depression that is associated with your living situation?

signs of clinical depression

I’ve noticed that when I am not feeling productive or “going somewhere” with my life that I become severely depressed. For instance, I had a less than favorable living situation in high school where my parents wouldn’t allow me to have a job or really leave the home and my grades were horrible and showed all the major signs of depression. I moved out of state, got a job, and I had a significantly higer GPA and was alot happier with my life. Now that I’ve lost my job, I’ve started to show all the signs of clinical depression again over the past 3 months. Is there a type of depression related with this, like how seasonal depression affects people based on the weather?
